Katy Shepherd
Performing Arts Teacher

Biography

Mrs. Katy Shepherd is beyond excited that God has called her to work at GCA!  She knew by the age of 6 that she had to be a teacher, because she didn’t think there could ever be a better job!  She is constantly amazed at how drama and music reaches children in a way that nothing else can and hopes to use her performing arts position to instill confidence and creativity in her students.

Mrs. Shepherd grew up in farmland outside of South Bend, IN.  She holds a BA in Theatre Arts from Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN.  She’s spent the past 10 years traveling the country as a professional actor and Teaching Artist, but relocated to Charlotte last year.  In her travels, she was the Resident Teaching Artist and Education Associate for Greenbrier Valley Theatre in Lewisburg, WV, developed a summer education program for Two Roads Education Arts and Theatre in Fairfield, IA, and is currently a Teaching Artist for various levels in acting, music, and dance at Children’s Theatre of Charlotte.  Mrs. Shepherd’s beautiful family consists of her amazing husband and their two girls: Nellie (a Pomeranian) and Cecily (a Snowshoe cat).
