Laura Pizon

Middle School Spanish Teacher

Biography

Señora Laura Pizon has been teaching Spanish in the Lake Norman area for 12 years.  Her experience includes Elementary Spanish Teacher at Community School of Davidson, After-school Enrichment at Woodland Heights Academy in Mooresville, as well as private tutoring and homeschooling. She was first introduced to foreign language in 7th grade, and it quickly became a deep-rooted passion.  She studied Spanish and French throughout high school and graduated from The University of Florida with a degree is Spanish as well as Finance.  She spent part of her Sophomore year of college in Sevilla, Spain, where she became fluent. She engages in TPR (Total Physical Response) to reach students of all learning styles.  Her interactive teaching style creates an open environment in which kids become eager to learn and speak. “Watching the kids’ eyes light up in understanding as they communicate in a new language, is one of the most rewarding things I’ve experienced.”

Laura, her husband Mike, and their four children have been partners at Grace Covenant Church since 2012.

Why GCA?

Grace Covenant Academy’s philosophy of “teaching a love of learning in students” drew me to this role. I’m excited to share my passion for the Spanish language with our children.
