Head of School
Christina Deppen is originally from Iowa City, Iowa, and began her educational training at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois where she received her BA in Elementary Education with certifications in Math, Language Arts, Social Sciences, and Middle School. She started her teaching career on the Chicago North Shore where she taught 6th and 7th Grade Math and Language Arts in the public school for 5 years. After receiving tenure, she felt the call to Christian education and helped to launch Harvest Christian Academy (in Elgin, Illinois), a ministry of Harvest Bible Chapel, by teaching 6th grade for the first year. While there, Mrs. Deppen finished her MA in Educational Leadership, helped develop the middle school, and then spent the next 5 years as Principal of a second school campus (Grades PreK – 5 in Rolling Meadows, Illinois).
While leading Harvest Christian Academy, Mrs. Deppen began teaching adult students in the MAT program at Trinity International University. After 4 years of adjunct teaching, Mrs. Deppen followed the call to train teachers full-time and left Harvest for Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, where she served as the Director of Christian School Education. During her 4 years there, Mrs. Deppen provided leadership to the program, taught multiple methods courses and provided oversight to student teachers and other faculty in the department. During her time at Moody Bible Institute, Mrs. Deppen married Phil and shortly thereafter they were blessed with their firstborn son, Bryce (6 yrs), and then their second son, Garrett (4 yrs). Choosing to stay home with her children, the Deppen family relocated to the Charlotte area to expand the opportunities for their family. Phil and Christina enjoy working together to build their business, homeschool their children, and minister to neighbors.
Mrs. Deppen joined Grace Covenant Academy as a member of the Advisory Council for the 2018-19 school year and is blessed to now be able to share her gifts and talents with the school directly.
Because of its commitment to excellence and the Word of God.
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.
